Reading At The Book Store

As Meimei calls it - "Achievement Unlocked!". Every kid should go through this phase where they now know how to read and would sit at the book store to browse and read books that their parents didn't buy for them. It's like this rile of passage, and a meaningful one too. We had been worried that 萱萱 is not interested in reading. But now it seems with primary school she is getting into it. Phew. 加油 girl girl! So long as you willing to read by yourself, Daddy and Mummy will buy all the books that you want to read!

Helping With Laundry

萱萱 has shown some genuine interest in helping fold laundry. We were having dinner and she went to fold clothes on her own accord. She says she likes it and I think I know why. She is like me, there is a sense of accomplishment in getting clothes ironed and folded nicely haha. 阳阳 tries to help too but he makes more of a mess than anything but that's ok. It's good to inculcate good habits now. We won't have a maid forever so the kids have to learn to help out at home.

 I keep getting this screen. At first I will bow my head in silent submission.

But after a day I refuse to kowtow to Apple no more. Instead I bend the phone towards my neck and chest and it unlocks the phone. I make the phone bow to me instead. We are the masters of technology. Not the other way around.

Elixir Haul #8 - Closing Down Sale

This batch is a bigger one than normal because DFS is stopping it's online portal on end May and offering 20% store wide now. Not sure why they are stopping and I'm not happy about it. They have a limited range of cognac but the prices can be pretty good sometimes. Hopefully this is only temporary and they will put up the website for online orders again soon.

Dreading A New Phone

For 99.99% of people, getting a new phone - the latest iPhone model, is an event in its own. There is excitement, happiness, pure awe in the whole process from the purchase all the way through setup and migration to getting it all going on the new phone.

However for me there is only dread. So much that I left the phone untouched since we bought it yesterday after lunch. I only got to it this afternoon and even then I wasn't really into it and slowly took my time while finding excuses about being busy with work.

Why's that? Because my phone is setup with my company's mobile VPN and profile settings. It is used to unlock my laptop, gain access to all applications and servers. And I've learned over the years that messing with this can be quite a hassle and endless opportunities to mess up.

And oh boy did I mess up .... I am now unable to unlock my laptop. This is exactly what I most feared and it happened. Now I have to get to office tomorrow and pray the tech support can do magic and unlock my laptop. I don't have any backup of the laptop and it will be catastrophic if I lose everything. 

I'm actually in shock this happen. Imagine paying two thousand odd dollars for a phone that gives you a horror experience. I'm dumbfounded and my mind is totally blank. I should be regretting it and feeling frustrated but no, I have no feeling ... its as though I simply was dealt a blow and I fell over.

I'm sure I will recover from this. But at what cost? We'll know tomorrow. I can only mark this as a key life experience and hope this phone can last the next 10 years. I cannot take this dread too often.

ZooMooV Rides

The kids have been eyeing to get on one of the ZooMooV rides for some time now. We would occasionally see them at various shopping malls and they would stare at other kids riding on them. Usually that's all they do but today 阳阳 kept bugging me to let him get on a ride. Since it's a fun day for the kids, we decided to give them a treat after 萱萱 was done buying her shoes.

I bought a package for 4 rides so there'll be more chances to ride again. I'm sure the next time they see ZooMooV at a mall they will definitely ask for the rides again. Considering that this is not a lot more expensive than the stationary rides, I rather let them play this.

Sacrifices For Fun

Brought the kids down for some scooter and bicycle fun. Surprised that 阳阳 suddenly seems to know how to balance well on the scooter and now he is attempting to brake. As always they had a blast of a time. Towards the end they were tired but wouldn't listen to me shouting for them to stop playing catch. So 阳阳 fell and scratched his shin. Oh well I guess it takes some pain to drill it into them to listen to adults.

Both of them came home with minor knocks and cuts. Nothing serious. And if you ask them now they'll tell you they don't want to go play scooter again. But when it really comes to it they are definitely going to forget this day and run wild around the basketball court again. Ahhh such is the beauty of youthful foolishness, the daringness to try and try again. Hahah.
