Happy 7th Birthday 阳阳!

I had to jump on a flight this morning so we had a mini celebration with cake last night. Thankfully Meimei had it all prepared for a proper celebration for 阳阳. Wished I could be there but work is work. Sometimes we don't get to choose.

Anyways, Happy Birthday Buddy!

萱萱's First Birthday Party

萱萱 kept asking for a birthday party and was not taking no for an answer. Thank goodness she has a patient and loving mother who tries her hardest to make her teens fun and memorable. Since it was at home, we couldn't have too many of her friends over so we made a rule for only 4 guest and their parents. It was still pretty fun without too many people crowding the whole apartment. I liked how we were done in 4-5 hours and we could do some cleanup before dinner.

Happy Birthday 萱萱! Stay beautiful, kind, good-mannered always!

Happy 6th Birthday 阳阳!

Celebrating Birthday's twice in a day, this time at home with family. These are some of the best memories and picture moments.

Happy 6th Birthday 阳阳 @Joystar

Happy 6th Birthday 阳阳! Meimei made it a point to celebrate at school as we missed a couple of years due to Covid and this is the last time we could do this for him at school. Meimei ordered a huge 2 tier cake decorated with an assortments of toys she specially sourced from Taobao.

We also took lots of photos with his classmates but I try not to put them on the blog without explicit permissions. He will be going to P1 next year so these photos are for his memories of time at Joystar.

Turning 45

You know life is good when you have family by you on special days. Turning 45, surely the 50%-60% way mark depending on how far I get in life haha. I owe to Meimei to make it all happen so here's to another 45 together!

Sashimi Galore At Sushi Bar Takashimaya

OMG ... food coma from having so much salmon sashimi!! The pictures speak for themselves ... look at those thick slices of salmon!

Absolutely amazing lunch at Sushi Bar Takashimaya. They had a promotion for salmon sashimi and we didn't hold back. It was meant as a birthday treat for me so we went all out. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Birthday Celebration Meal At Peppermint @Park Royal Collection Marina Bay

Ahh birthdays again. But this one's 'special'. It's the first time we were out as a family for a celebration meal. Meimei had planned it out perfectly with reservations at Peppermint. 萱萱 didn't have school today and we pulled 阳阳 out of childcare before lunch.

The selection is good. They have a cold bar with salad and Thai cold dishes. The seafood section was adequate with fresh prawns and crab. The sushi bar was a plated service so you couldn't just grab a whole bunch of sashimi. The hot food section boasted a good spread of pasta, meats, vegetables and soup like any creditable buffet would. They could do better on dessert but I think they were going with a Thai theme so choices were limited. The ice cream bar always helps though. Overall pretty satisfied with the available choices.

This is the first time the kids been to a buffet so they were undoubtedly excited and in high spirits. We let them have a free rein on what they want to eat so they were all in on the fried stuff. We did however ask them to save some space for desserts. They had a few servings of ice cream which must have been a dream for them since they normally don't get that much.

I'm happy we came out for lunch. It shows we have moved into the next stage of life where we can start bringing kids out for activities and fun. No more strollers, milk bottle,  pampers or nap time to worry about. I'm looking forward to more outings with Meimei and kids.

The Sushi Bar @ Takashimaya

YeeYee brought us to The Sushi Bar @ Takashimaya to celebrate Nyaung's birthday. I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name. Sushi Bar ... an image of a small 2-man shop with a counter bar and the chef standing on the other side serving out simple fare.

Aburi Kaisen Chirashi Don
There was nothing simple about the food they serve. Everything we tried was delicate and seasoned to perfection.

Salmon Aburi Roll
The prices reflect the quality too. Not your typical meal at a Japanese restaurant like Sushi-teh or Itacho. Much as it was expensive, the place was still packed and the waiting queue was consistently filled.

Kaisen Chirashi Don
I'm pretty certain we'll be back again ... and again if they keep to this standard. Maybe not every weekend (a little too premium) but definitely this place will pop into mind as a prime choice for celebrating occasions.

Blowing The Candles

Today is Meimei’s birthday. I hadn't plan for anything but thankfully my sis-in-law was a life-saver when she came over for dinner with a cake.

Everyone gathered around the dining table after dinner and took pictures. OO didn't wait around for the poses and helped herself to the candle blowing once they were lit.

OO loves her 'Happy Birthdays' events, even if it's someone else's. Meimei lit the candles again and we managed to hold OO back from blowing them ... well up till we're mid way through the birthday song at least. She just couldn't resist sneaking in for the blowout. Hahaha.

Almost 40

I celebrated my 39th birthday today by bringing the family to Gardens By The Bay for a family day out. Nothing beats having family around on a festive day. I don’t recall ever celebrating my birthday on the day itself. I work in Finance so month end are always peak periods where I cannot step away. So it is specially meaningful that I now have the luxury to do so.

It’s the tail end of the pumpkin exhibit at the flower dome but the colours are still vivid. OO loved all the bright colours and keeps trying to touch the flowers and pumpkins. More importantly we captured many photos with NyaOng and NyaMa.

Although we couldn’t go to the Children’s waterplay area due to the light rain, it was a fruitful and fun day out. *Thumbs up.

Meimei Birthday Present 2014

During the early days of our courtship Meimei would be disappointed often during special days. After awhile I think she gave up expecting that I would pull a bunny out of a hat and give her a birthday surprise. I've always felt guilty about it, yet never really got to planning a surprise party for her.

Since I'm pretty much lazing at home, I thought it would be a nice touch to give her a birthday surprise. She already knows I'm getting her a iPad mini with Retina so that doesn't count.

A little chocolate cake and a candle. It's just a simple gesture, I think she would prefer this to any big party.

And in true Meimei fashion, she dug a heart shape on the cake. She says she's been wanting to do this for the longest time ... Ooo-K *smile, so long as you are happy, Love!

2012 Meimei's Birthday Gift

Ok first, I admit, I'm cheap. Well to a certain extent, and in my defense I'm still a whole lot better than other guys. I bought a garnet pendant for Meimei as a Christmas cum Bday gift. It never is good to combine gifts together but well at least I got her something.

Now garnet isn't a bright rock, it's the dullest of stones I've seen. Even coupled with other metals like silver or gold, it is still lackluster. I couldn't find many jewelry with garnets. Some shops don't even carry them. I managed to find one which looked reasonably good.

Meimei was happy she got a gift this year haha she's always one for gifts and surprises, and rightly so *kiss. But even the element of thoughtfulness on my part couldn't drain away the muted attraction of a garnet. So we went to exchange it for something else. That's perfectly ok, anything for Meimei. She found this nice band with 3 little diamonds. This is better for everyday wear compared to Blinky. I'm very glad she is willing to sound it out rather than keep quiet and stash the pendant away, never to see the light of day again. I can see my 'gift' on her fingers and feel good that I 'bought' it for her ... hehehheeh I'm still gonna claim credit!

2010 Birthday Present!

Bought a watch for my birthday. I had extra vouchers from work and since there was a 33% discount, don't see why I should be buying it anywhere else. I'm actually more of a leather strap person but those usually smell after awhile. So I'm going for a metal one and propel myself into uncle-hood hahah.

Early Party

My team was very nice to conjure up a 'surprise' celebration. Well, they made sure I was free today weeks in advance. And well, I did drop a few subtle *wink wink* hints that I love a particular strawberry shortcake from a certain eatery called Bakerzin. Hehehe.

So wah lah! they got me a cake, and had it delivered during office hours. The funny thing was the reception called me to collect a parcel haha. So I went to collect my own birthday cake. I must say they did keep a good straight face when I came back with it. They must have been stunned to see that I collected my own cake. Hahahahah.

While anyways, we gathered in the pantry and everyone sang a loud birthday song. I actually forgot to whip out my camera during the celebration. So the only picutre I have is that of the congratulatory message on the cake. "Happy Birthday to SunShine Boy!" Yeah! that's me baby!! Muhahahahahha
