Happy CNY 2026!

Happy New Year! I tried to fit into the Goldlion shirts but most of them don't fit at the waist anymore. They must have shrank in the cupboard after such long period of neglect. I'll get new ones next year, Goldlion usually carries a couple of red ones.

Meimei has dress up the kids in perfect attires as usual. She has the midas-touch to getting things looking pretty and perfect.

Christmas 2025

Merry Christmas 2025! I received a special Christmas gift from 阳阳 this year! This is better than anything money can buy. I would love to receive this gift every year!

Happy Chinese New Year 2025!

The best time is together time. Especially for meals when everyone sits around the table and enjoy good food and lots of drinks!

Getting Ready For CNY

With the new kitchen and living area redone, Meimei was happily buying CNY decorations and goodies to display at home. I'm so glad we spent the money to do up the house again. It gave the whole place a breath of freshness and vitality that was probably dampened over the years with all our stuff just clouding the area. But no more, now its just open space at the entrance area.

Christmas Gift From Kiddos

I received a gift from the kids this year! Happy with the gift but at the same time it kinda feels like a trap hahahahah. This "gift" essentially limits the number of times I can sleep with the kids!

Meimei is highly tickled by the "gift". What's more ... it's never really claimable because it starts at 32/12/2024! Marvellous!

Lantern Festival 2024

We stayed home this year for the Lantern Festival. The pandemic has put a damper on the regular festivities over the past couple of year. I no longer see other children gathering downstairs to light the night with lanterns.

The kids still had lots of fun though. We switched off many of the lights and let the kids roam around with the lanterns. Perfect setting for a mid autumn night.

Amazing Lo Hei

This year Meimei ordered a fabulous Lo Hei platter from Himawari. It was so good Nyong and I had 4-5 servings. It's seldom that we finish the Lo Hei as it tends to get a little gelat after one serving. But this time we clean it all before we even start the main course. I kept waxing praises on it and making sure everyone at the table hear that we are getting this again next year ... and the next ... and the next ... till one day it disappoints us. It is that good, period.

Happy CNY 2024!

The usual routine, morning's at Nyaong Nyama and then Hillview for lunch. This has to be the best picture of this year's CNY. Everyone's in bright red and all smiles. Perfect!

For dinner Meimei ordered from Furama Catering. Like yesteryears it has proven to be very convenient for a acceptable quality of food. Definitely sometime we will continue to do as our parents get older. No reason for them to be overly burden and tired from trying to cook up a reunion dinner.

Christmas 2023

We didn't put up the Christmas tree this year and the kids were a little disappointed. But we just don't have the space to do so. Meimei came up with a brilliant idea and executed it to perfection. She made a pyramid  using the boxes of presents and then the decorations to make an impromptu Christmas 'Tree'.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

CNY 2023

Happy CNY everyone!

As with yesteryear we were only going to visit our parents. Even though Covid restrictions are lifted, no one really feels like visiting others. Well at least not in my family. I mean there are 1st cousins whom I don't know the name, never seen them in years and wouldn't recognise even if I come face to face with them on the street. Such is the conduct of my parent's generation - they get at each other's throat in the name of $$$ - that is filtered down to my generation and we lose that touch of family. I try to keep my kids away from all the drama and hope we correct that for their generation. There are already so few kids that its sad if we continue in that awful trend.

Anyways happy holidays!

A Christmas Treat @Melt Cafe Mandarin Oriental

It's been a long time since we were out for a meal together because of Covid. So this year we planned a Christmas lunch at my (our?) favourite buffet - Melt Cafe at Mandarin Oriental. And it didn't disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised that they kept the quality and spread as before Covid. Many places had cut corners because of the pandemic and raging inflation. And to top it off, they have a special kids room where they have pizza, pastries, candy and all other delights plus movie to keep the kids entertained while parents enjoy their lunch.

CNY Eve 2022 @Home

We did the same for our CNY reunion dinner at home. Meimei ordered from 2 restaurant and it was a grand feast.

Another year gone and another wonderful one to come. My our year fill with wealth, abundance, good health and laughter and smiles!

CNY Eve 2022 @Hillview

We are at Hillview for CNY reunion lunch. Meimei and Carrine ordered delivery so Mama didn't have to cook. I was busy eating and forgot to take a picture of the spread ...

But Meimei & I were our usual paparazzi self and took lots of pictures of 萱萱 and 阳阳. They are always excited to come to Hillview to play with their cousins.

Christmas 2021

The kids have been constantly whining to open up the Christmas presents. They know their papa mama go crazy with the presents every year. Well I think this year may be the last we are so generous, next year on they are getting stationery or art supplies etc.

We had the usual Christmas dinner at home and was treated to a performance by 萱萱 and 阳阳.

Dressing Up For Deepavali

This is the first year Meimei found a set of ethnic Indian apparel for 萱萱 and 阳阳 to wear to school for Deepavali. The childcare center likes to promote racial diversity and encourages children to come dressed for each festive celebration. The kiddos look very cute in them :-)

Turning 43

Another year older. The hair on my chin are starting to turn white. There are still many years to come and I'm looking forward to spend them with Meimei, 萱萱 and 阳阳. I don't need fancy events, travels or exciting outings. Just the simple life will do for me.

CNY 2021

This year was a simple CNY. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, each household can only have 8 visitors in a day ... which is GREAT! No need to run around the island meeting distant relatives I see only once a year. It's just Ah Gong, Ah Ma and Nyaong Nyama. Swee!

Not sure how Meimei was able to get the kids to pose like those clothing adverts you see in 8 days magazines in the photo above. But they sure look lovely in their CNY outfits.

So glad we have a quiet CNY. Can we have it the same again next year ... but without the virus? Hehe.

Presents Galore!

This is probably the year where the kids are getting so many presents. I think we overdid it by a long stretch and made a point to Meimei that we need to tone it down going forward.

Obviously the kids were extremely happy and excited with so many toys. I suppose it's fitting for kids to enjoy childhood when they can. We just need to tamper their expectations that they will not get as many goodies as they grow older. But for now, woohoo! toys galore!

Setting Up The Tree For Christmas 2020

It gets more and more fun now that both kids are bigger and can help with the decoration. Last year 阳阳 was still a toddler and didn't really understand what was going on. This year he was able to help put on some of the ornaments.

Lantern Festival 2020

Tradition.

Go downstairs to basketball court after dinner.

Light the lanterns and run around with them

Take some pictures.
