Meimei: As pretty as mummy?

阳阳: Yes do you know JiaXin has a snow ball that has a ribbon? To put on her hair one. I like her.

萱萱: Mama, Alson also believe in 主耶稣

Shopping For New Kids Bunk Bed

A new year and new configuration for the kids. Meimei has been surfing for kids bunk beds and we finally found one where there is a physical shop we can go have a look before making the purchase. Kids bunk beds are not cheap ... unless you buy it from IKEA. 

So here we are at Piccolo House today to check out the bunk beds. We are eyeing the detached double bed with stairs but it comes at a hefty $2,800 after discounts. Both kids were fighting to get the top bunk so we need to figure out how to get one to sleep below.

Missing Jigsaw Pieces

阳阳 and I were putting together a firetruck jigsaw and were doing well till we discovered there were 'missing' pieces. I was so frustrated that I took a pic to complain to Meimei and threaten to go back to NTUC to complain about the incomplete set.

Maybe it's 阳阳 taking my attention that made me fail to see it or I was simply tired from a long day and had parallax vision. Whatever it was, thankfully, I came to realise it half hour later.

As 阳阳 would say it with a grin ... "Silly Papa".

Potty In The Toilet

Hahah 阳阳 is gonna hate me for sharing this but I think it's a worthy milestone to mark. He's starting to go to the toilet to potty instead of trying to poo in pampers in the potty corner. I guess this has to do with potty training at school where they don't get pampers anymore.

Christmas 2021

The kids have been constantly whining to open up the Christmas presents. They know their papa mama go crazy with the presents every year. Well I think this year may be the last we are so generous, next year on they are getting stationery or art supplies etc.

We had the usual Christmas dinner at home and was treated to a performance by 萱萱 and 阳阳.

A Sashimi Feast For Christmas Eve

It's just Meimei and I for dinner and we bought a sashimi platter from Dondonki. For the amount of food, it cost half of it would have at a restaurant. We are always eyeing the sashimi at restaurants but could never bring ourselves to spend that sort of dough. So this cements that because this ticks all the boxes and finally satisfy that craving for splurging on sashimi.

A Hooligan At School

阳阳's teachers sent this picture to Meimei .... asking if he sits like that at home too and ask that we also sound out to him not to do so. Haha I wonder where he picks this habit up from? *wink wink

阳阳's First Time At Sunday Church Class

阳阳's first time to Sunday church class. Covid has rob him of a lot of what 萱萱 was able to experience at the same age. Thankfully he is still young so there is lots of opportunities to catch up. We'll try to bring the children out more on the weekends so they are exposed to the 'outside' world.

Kindergarten Graduation

Today is 萱萱's kindergarten graduation 'ceremony and dance'. In yesteryears parents of the graduating class would all be gathered at an auditorium to watch kids perform and see the presentation of the 'graduation papers' to the K2 class. But Covid has changed all that. Thankfully they let us into the school to take pictures with 萱萱.

After School Student Care

Meimei brought 萱萱 to visit the after school student care today. I encourage putting 萱萱 in student care because I believe she'll get better guidance and learning than being left to her own devices at home. Although we are working from home, we don't have the time to watch over her homework nor setup activities for her afternoons. That said, we need her to be 'ok' with it so this was a great chance to introduce her to it and let her see other children in the same environment.

Well it turns out she was more interested in the koi pond than the student care. That's ok, in time she will be used to the rigours of student care. It gives her a chance to make friends outside of her own classroom too.

萱萱: mama u know what’s one thing I am not good at?

Meimei: don’t know. What is it?

萱萱: is getting 阳阳 to listen to me! 

Meimei: hahaha that sounds like something 阳阳 is not good at! He doesn’t only not listen to you, he doesn’t listen to adults too sometimes

萱萱: no! He very very good in school you know? Only 1 time I heard teacher shout his name but it is because another boy jealous he hold ariel hand so beat him. He always listen in school! Don’t know why at home like this 🤷‍♀️ next year I am not in school already I cannot tell you about how he is in school ! 

Meimei: *melt and mixed feelings…

Meimei: 阳阳 in school you always very good boy but at home you are not, why?

阳阳: *big big eyes but ignore me

Meimei: can you also be good good boy at home ? For me?

萱萱: Having my family, dancing, singing, swimming, drawing, house rules, play, Tv

阳阳: I love to hug my pillow and hug my family. The books that I like and also the pillow that I like, my favourite pillow. And my favourite sister.

First Visit To Hillview In 2 Months

Its been 2 months since we last visited Hillview. First there was the covid restrictions on group sizes and visits. Then 阳阳 and 萱萱 were sick. Even though they didn't had covid we still played it safe and not go Hillview.

So today's the day and it started with both lift breaking down. We had to walk with the kids down the stairs. 阳阳 got tired halfway down so I carried him the rest of the way.

The group photo of the kiddos are the highlight of each trip. They grow bigger with each picture.

New Silestone Top Dining Table!

Finally our new table has arrived. 

We took about an hour to move the old dining out to the lobby and cleanup the area. The rectangle area under the old table has not seen the light of day since we moved in. There are all sorts of stains (removable thankfully) which accumulated over the years from spills.

The new table is whiter than I expected so it takes getting used to. It's a lot heavier than the old one and we were warned not to move the table by sliding. The wooden legs will wrap and break if we don't do the "lift and move" way due to the weight. Well whatever, this is one of the dream items we wanted to get back when we moved into this place but we couldn't get due to budget constraints. It's now a reality. Woot!!

Lazy Rascals Before Swimming

I get lots of angry daggers from Meimei's eyes when they did this. I though it was just funny. But they've been warned never to do it again.
