Kiddo Pic & Talk Sep 2023

Already someone in the family does that

Meimei: “don’t leave the plastic in the cupboard. Thats a bad habit”

Meimei: "There is already 1 person in the family who does that and it’s bad enough."

萱萱: "Who?"

Meimei (poker face): "Me"

Meimei: “so you have to make sure you do it right and throw the plastic away”

萱萱: “but mama then you need to stop doing this so I can be the one not throwing it”

Meimei (dead silence) ... *内伤

Pokpok ... Laughing hysterically...

Korean Hip Hop

Meimei signed up the kids for Korean Hip Hop trial lessons. It's not free, we still have to pay for the class at a discounted rate. They didn't let us take pictures so Meimei had to secretly take a video when she could. She could only get one for 阳阳 whereas 萱萱's class was too exposed to whip out a phone.

Not sure if the kids had fun. Being at GR.ID mall along Orchard road makes it hard to really commit to taking the classes every Saturday morning unless the kids are extremely keen on it. At least Meimei thought about letting the kids try it out so we know for sure.

New Member On Evening Playground Fun

We have a new member for the playground runs. Xy is at that age where she can start going to playground regularly to build up her strength and muscles. It's good to bring her out so her world is not just the four walls in the house.

萱萱 and 阳阳 were overly excited that Xy is with us. They took turns to play big sister and big brother and brought Xy around the playground.

Mid-Autumn Festival @Yuneng Primary School 2023

萱萱's school has a Mid-Autumn Festival event for family of students this evening. There was crowd favourite treats like popcorn and candy floss. I think it's meant to get the kids sugar high so they can immerse in the activities. There were different stations with games and activities with simple prizes of colour pencils, erasers etc. So glad Covid is over and we can all get together for such family events at the schools.

Kidztopia For Sep Holidays

This week is the starting of the September school holidays. We were originally going to the RSAF open house but it was so packed at the roads there that I couldn't even figure out how to let the kids and Meimei off first. We decided to quickly get out of the area and pivot to Kidztopia at Marina Square instead so the kids will not be too disappointed for not getting to go to the open house.

The kids had lots of fun. Now that they are older, we let them run around on their own. Glad the two are close and will keep watching to see that each other is around.

At the end of the day we even let them try to drive in a ride. 萱萱 looked pretty serious and stress when steering the car. This marks the first time she has driven a "car" haha.

Installing A Baby Gate Again

Meimei took it upon herself to install a gate for Evelyn.  Xy is now at the age where it's hard to keep her in the playpen. And in all sense that's the right thing. This is the time she starts to explore and learn about the bigger world and not be confined to the four fences. It's so fun having another baby in the house.

Singapore Airforce Museum

阳阳's been on a school trip to the airforce museum and have been bugging us to go back there. It's been on his mind because he thinks he messed up and wanted to go back to make amends, He confessed to Meimei a week after the trip that he "broke" a mannequin's hand and the teachers have to fix it back. So he wanted us to go back to pay for it. Aiyoh ... it's been making him miserable and guilty.

The kids were very excited to visit the museum today. 阳阳 kept leading the way and pushing us to see all the exhibits he's seen. I tried to calm his fears of the mannequin but he refused to go near it ... ever. I think it was a great outing, especially that it is free to public.

阳阳's Airport

阳阳 is on airplane craze these days. He wants to be a fighter pilot so we've been telling him that he needs to take care of his eyes to be one. He dug out all of the planes from the toy stash and made an airport complete with a tower.

Work Travels: One And Half Week In Bangalore

Back in Bangalore again for another workshop. As with the other travels, the kids fell sick when I'm away from home. First it was 阳阳 who tested positive for Influenza A and then 萱萱 caught it after that. Poor Meimei had to manage this alone in Singapore.

On my trip, for some odd unknown reason all the good hotels in the area were fully booked for the first week. It was meant to be a 2 week workout but I refused to be there earlier because I insist to be there for 萱萱's piano recital. Plus I've spent 2 weeks going through the decks that SAP was going to present and it's largely just training slides which you can go through online.

Due to the lack of hotels, I had booked 3 nights at Four Points by Sheraton. After that on Sunday I move to Marriott Whitefield which is just 5 minutes walk to the GE campus. Obviously Four Points can't compare to Marriott but it's not all that bad. Jason was with me at the hotel and he was complained about the service and amenities. I shared my take that this is the quality of the hotels we stay in when we go to Cincinnati.

I caught something on the first day and had a coarse voice the entire trip. I wonder if it's the water or the food that triggered the reaction. Whatever it is, I struggled to talk in the workshops. Thankfully I made it through and left on Friday morning.

Lunch At Dondonki Jewel Changi Airport

We usually pack our Dondonki sashimi and sushi sets to go. But the outlet at Jewel has an area for customers to sit down and have their meals. They also have a deli-ish area where they serve sushi sets that comes with soup and salad. So we were here today for lunch and I decided to splurged on a sushi set. It turned out pretty good with no frills which kept the price slightly lower than if we had the same in a restaurant. I'll definitely do this again for lunch.
