Children Art: Pikachu For 阳阳

萱萱 went to the school's bookshop for the first time today and bought a Pikachu notebook. And then she drew one with her own paper and colour it in 阳阳's favourite red colour and gave it to him as a present.  She adores her little brother.

Kids Bunk Bed

The kid's bunk bed has finally arrived. The original plan was to move their study tables into the room too. But I made a booboo on the measurements so they have to continue in the study room. We are lacking another super single bed so that's another big ticket item to purchase. There is a pungent smell so we'll need to air it for a couple of days before moving the kids in.

Happy 4th Birthday 阳阳!!

阳阳 turns 4 today! Meimei ordered cupcakes for celebration in school. Unfortunately we were not allowed in to take photos due to covid. His teachers took a few and shared with us.

萱萱 made a card for him. She's always so sweet when it comes to such things.

And of course things will not be complete without another birthday song and cake routine at home.

GBTB 2022

We top off the CNY week with a trip to Gardens By The Bay. After 2 years of Covid, we are now starting to bring the kids out more often. We can see the excitement in their eyes. It helps that they are older now so we don't need to push the stroller along and pack a lot. Just a jacket and water bottle and we are good to go.

Kiddo's First Touch Of Mahjong

This is the first time many years we have taken out the mahjong table from the store room. It's also the first time the children has seen mahjong tiles at home. Naturally they were very curious about this noisy game adults were playing. The way they were so engrossed in watching nyaong and nyama play reminds me of myself when I was young. I would sit with my dad every weekend as he played mahjong ... sometimes late into the night.

Maturity beyond his years

Meimei described the incident to me: "Jiejie just opened the door into the room, with didi inside behind the door about to open to come out… and now didi has a big egg on his forehead.

But while he is sobbing his eyes out he sobbed “I’m crying not because I’m angry with jiejie…. It’s accident…” "

A bowl for Papa

萱萱: have you taken out papa bowl or plate?

Meimei: no papa will take himself 

萱萱: why u no help him take

Meimei: cos we like to take ourselves so we know how much rice we want

萱萱: but u can at least take the plate or bowl out for him first

"I hate you and I hate this but I know how to do this myself so get away from me ok"

CNY Eve 2022 @Home

We did the same for our CNY reunion dinner at home. Meimei ordered from 2 restaurant and it was a grand feast.

Another year gone and another wonderful one to come. My our year fill with wealth, abundance, good health and laughter and smiles!

CNY Eve 2022 @Hillview

We are at Hillview for CNY reunion lunch. Meimei and Carrine ordered delivery so Mama didn't have to cook. I was busy eating and forgot to take a picture of the spread ...

But Meimei & I were our usual paparazzi self and took lots of pictures of 萱萱 and 阳阳. They are always excited to come to Hillview to play with their cousins.

Back At Arknights For 2nd Anniversary Events

I took a break at Summoners War again and picked up Arknights for the 2nd Anniversary events. The games seems more refined now and I'm having a thrill playing something different from Summoners War and Awaken Chaos Era. It certainly helped that I managed to pull one of the core limited event operator.

My New Fav Restaurant At Bedok Mall: TamJai SamGor MiXian

I used to walk pass this place and balk at giving it a try. It looked like one of those mala stalls at the kopitiams. Oh ... I was happy to be wrong once Meimei pulled me to give it a try. The Wula soup was fragrant with a good touch of spiciness. And let's not forget the pork liver, you don't find that on the menu at most places.

This is the perfect place for lunch on a cold rainy day. Looks like I'm going to come to Bedok Mall for lunch more often now.

SEA Aquarium

We are at the SEA Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa today. We had the tickets from the SG Rediscover vouchers. It's been a long time since we brought the kids out to a local attraction so everyone was pretty hype about the trip.

I enjoyed myself but the kids seem to be bored after awhile. They were more interested in the gift shop than the sea creatures.

Falling Window Grilles

We came home today after lunch today to find a window grille detached from the railing. Siti was in the kitchen and immediately say that the grille fell by itself while she was in the kitchen cooking. Hmmm ... window grilles don't just fall on its own ..... 

Our first reaction was shock and then attempts to fix it back. The more I went at it the more I'm convinced it doesn't just 'fall on its own'. We have to fix it back before the kids get home. There were horror stories of kids falling out of windows right here in Singapore so I'm extra cautious to check our grilles regularly to make sure they are still sturdy.

After trying several times and failing to fit it back I called Norman who in-turn contacted the grille supplier. It will cost us $80 for transport for the supplier to come have a look. Well ... I would pay any price to ensure safety for the kids. Unfortunately they could not come immediately ... only the day after.

Seeing that we have to live with an open window for at least 2 days, I decided to give it another go. I went with the brute force route this time and managed to jam the grille back into railing. Phew. Saved $80 and the couple days of worry.

萱萱's First School Day In 2022

萱萱's first day in Primary School. Only one parent was allowed to accompany their child so naturally Meimei went with 萱萱. It was just yesterday when 萱萱 first step into childcare with tears and cries. Thankfully she has grown up so much and seems to be genuinely excited at going to Primary School.

Meimei was able to accompany her to the morning assembly at the hall and observe canteen break time from afar. 

 

 

We also had her go to student care right on the first day just so she knows there is no negotiation on her schedule. But when it came to picking her up, the whole village came :-) Everyone's just as excited to see our baby girl back from her first day of school.

阳阳 First School Day In 2022

阳阳's in Nursery this year. The first time at childcare without his 姐姐. We were apprehensive and unsure if he can cope. He's always had his big sister close by to watch out for him. But oh well he has to grow up sometime. 萱萱 had it tougher being 'alone' in school for the first few years.
