阳阳's hair is getting long and it didn't make sense to bring him to Meimei's saloon since he is a boy and doesn't need the refined hair styling. A simple trip to a barber will do. Fortunately there is a nice barber shop at Bedok Mall with baby seats and video screen to keep the kids entertain while the hair stylist does their magic. And since we were there with both kids, we had them trim 萱萱's fringe as well.
Meimei recently started writing 'love letters' to 萱萱. Meimei worries a lot about 萱萱 and is always trying to help her and sayang her. I think these letters are a way Meimei shows affection and love for our sweet sweet daughter.
Starting this series to document and preserve the letters.
阳阳 is so random haha. He just doodled a 'map' of our place, a police station and Hillview. He even add in a car and was sharing me how long it takes to drive along the lines to get to Hillview.
We are doing a lot of revamping of the rooms this month. It's a logical next step as the kids get older. The kids need a better environment to study and complete homework. So Meimei diligently cleared the cupboards at the side so we could move their tables against it. Having their tables in the middle of the room makes the walkway a tripping hazard since it's so tight to walk through, even for the kids. The only downside of this is the lighting so Meimei bought another 3M study light for them. No expense spared to make it better for the kids!
Finally it's time to replace our bed frame. We threw away the old one couple of years ago because we had 阳阳 and didn't want to risk him rolling down the bed. Now that they have their own beds we can get one for ourselves too.
We've always had a challenge with the bed frame sizes because of our cupboard. Luckily we chance on a Muji bed frame that fits just nicely against the wall. And a big plus is that it's oak! I've been looking for a wooden frame when we first moved into 405 but couldn't find one that would fit. Now it's coming together with this Muji one.
It's been many years since we have been able to lunch out at Plaza Singapura after church. Before Covid we had stopped going to church because they wouldn't let me feed 萱萱 at church and also Meimei was not able to come with 阳阳 still a little baby.
Now that things are opening up and we resume our Sunday routine, we attempted to revive our weekly lunch at Plaza Singapura. As was before, Nyaong arrive earlier at the food court to get seats. Its a tougher deal now as there are still distancing measures in place and seats are limited. Thankfully Meimei had found one early and he sat down to chope it.
This is also the first time 阳阳 has eaten out after church. I think he is loving the experience. Haiz poor kid, he missed most of usual stuff we do due to covid. Hopefully we can bring back more of the fun and outings so he learns what childhood should be like.
We would never let 萱萱 or 阳阳 do this at home so it's good 萱萱 gets a chance to channel her inner Pollock at student care.
The bunk beds came back today. And this time instead of setting up the stairs we had it like 2 normal beds on each side of the room. The kids and I had hit our heads on the top bunk previously so the grandparents likely recommended we do away with the top-bottom configuration. Thankfully Piccolo House was wiling to refund the cost of the stairs ($980) since we did not install the replacement and left it in its original box. That restored my faith in the company.
It's been a week and there's not been any improvement in the ringing in my left ear. The nausea and giddiness has stopped so I'm off the meds. I suspect I'm having the common Tinnitus coupled with stuffed ear. The hospital came back with my appointment schedule and its all the way at the end of May. 2 months before I can get any professional medical help.
I'm realistic. Judging by the YouTube videos and articles I'm been reading on this, there doesn't seem to be any cure for Tinnitus. I'm not keeping any hope that my condition will improve so there's nothing to lose trying out different approaches. If I get lucky it subsides, if not I've been preparing myself mentally to live with it.
Nyaong recommend that I look to Chinese acupuncture. He's had experience in the family on Tinnitus and earring loss and advised that western medicine does not have any solutions for such ailments. So we went to NTU TCM clinic to consult a senior physician.
It's the first time I'm doing acupuncture and contrary to what I'm been hearing, it does hurt a bit. Especially when doc pricked my hand and elbow. An instant shock ran through my fingers and they trembled uncontrollably.
Nothing changed after the session but I wasn't expecting any anyways. Chinese medicine works slowly, it's not a miracle cure. I have a course of Chinese medicine for the next 8 days and have to be back for another 2 sessions in the coming week. We'll see how it turns out after these ... again I'm not keeping any hope at all.
It was an extremely hot day. Meimei and I went hunting for the new Melon favoured ice cream at Simei's MacDonalds but they didn't have it. So we hatch a plan to go grab some in the evening. And since we were gonna do that we might as well bring the kids and Nyaong along too.
Obviously the kids loved the ice cream outing. 阳阳 even remembered that I used to bring them to Bedok Mall for ice cream treat. I think I only brought him there once but he remembered it well. It's good to get back to the pre-covid times. The kids deserve more experiences and memories other than being stuck at home.
It's a plan
Meimei: “If you all want to play with papa your need to go sleep with papa” “I will lock the door ah”
萱萱 阳阳 “yes!!”
萱萱 then suddenly say “no no I will sleep here”
萱萱: “Then when 阳阳 bombom the door, I will help open for 弟弟”
阳阳: “This is a plan!”
The Gentleman
Meimei: I ask 阳阳 to try color the wheels grey. He say no.
I picked up a crayon and ask if that is a nice color for wheels?
My perfectly gentleman son reply: I think it’s the perfect color mummy
After coloring we both agreed it’s great.
Again the sweetheart gentleman reply: that’s because I trust you so I try
I couldn't walk straight this morning when I step out of the house to bring 萱萱 to school. I could tell something was seriously wrong. My ear has been blocked since yesterday. It has happen occasionally over the last half year and usually clears within the day or two. But this morning it's very bad with ringing in the ears and causing me to lose balance in my steps. I somehow managed to pull through and even drove the car ... on hindsight I should have not ... but well I got 萱萱 to school and came back. All the while I was getting worst and feeling stronger bouts of nausea.
I told Meimei I need to go see the doctor. However our family doctor will not be open till tomorrow so Meimei suggested I go see the polyclinic instead. And specifically the Eunos one since there is always a long way at the Heartbeat polyclinic. Again I braved the trip and drove there myself after I pop a pill for giddiness that Meimei gave me.
Meimei was spot on and it didn't take long before I was able to see a doctor. The doctor went through the usual Q&A and I tried my best to share my symptoms. He used a metal fork to test whether I could feel vibrations and sound. At the end of it he offered that I may have Meniere's Disease .. huh what? I'll need to google that. He also wrote a referral to SGD ENT department. Hopefully I can get help soon.
I spent the rest of the day sleeping on the sofa to doze away the nausea. The ringing in the ears never stops so sleep is the only respite. Gosh ... what is happening? Am I really that old that weird ailments start to surface?
The Covid virus is finally gone. Per MOH guidelines, 阳阳 is allowed to exit isolation after 7 days even if he continues to test positive. But for the safety of everyone else in the family, Meimei decided to continue the isolation till he tested negative.
So after 9 days of isolation, he is finally cleared of Covid and could be let out of the room. He is already bored to tears from staying in the room.
There is a heap of toys that needs to be sanitised before 萱萱 gets home. Its a miracle that Meimei didn't get the virus too. That or she already had been inflicted with some form of it in yesterday-years so there's some sort of natural immunity, maybe? Whatever the case I'm glad both Meimei and 阳阳 are well.
