It's finally happened. We tried to delay it but with her habits it's always more likely to happen than not. Meimei brought her to Owndays to make a pair today. I do have to say she looks good with glasses. Well at least there's a positive side to it.

The Mystery Eye Cloud: Day 2 Going To A&E
During lunch I was already complaining that there are more floaters in my eye and I'm starting to see hundreds of micro spots in my left eye. As we drove home via ECP, we made the decision to go to CGH to have it checked out.
As I wait for the initial assessment at the A&E, I got a pen and paper from a nurse and drew up the problem for the doctors.
The drawing is pretty self explanatory. Some crap is happening on my right eye ... am I going blind?
It didn't take long before I saw a doctor and then she referred me to the eye department at the other side of the hospital. At the eye center I was sent for a series of checks, imaging, scans etc. Eventually a senior doctor saw me and shared the bad news. I have retina tearing in my right eye at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions. There are also thinning at 8 o'clock.
Thankfully I came in early they say. Because this is the early signs of retina detachment. It could still happen but the doctor scheduled me for an immediate laser scarring procedure. Hopefully the scarring will seal up the tearing and prevent further deterioration or detachment. A retina detachment will require surgery to reattach.
We were considered an emergency case so they had to squeeze us into their busy schedule. It wasn't immediate and we had to wait for the doctor to be free. By the time we were done with the procedure the place was empty. She then referred us to SGH National Eye Center for a senior associate professor to have a look at it tomorrow morning.
It's wild I'm getting a chain of medical problems each month. And each seems to be independent of each other.
Artisan Ramen at Mensho Tokyo SG
I was accompanying Meimei for her SGH appointment and then we decided to have lunch at Raffles City Shopping Mall. I had a ramen craving so Meimei recommend we try Mensho Tokyo SG.
I was blown away by the flavour burst from the rich ingredients. Every bite was a different taste and texture. And yet it all comes together nicely and no one ingredient over shadows another. It is definitely one to remember.

A Fishy Expansion
It's so hard to say no to Meimei.
I drove her to 85 today to look at fishes at the pet shop .... I'm complicit.
Meimei couldn't contain her glee and took a picture to share in the family chat while we drove home.
Nyama: "哇,终于得偿所愿“
Yeeyee: "惨了。傻鱼要失宠了。”
So we now have a failed migration which turned into an expansion.

A Fishy Migration

Apple 傻瓜机
Hahaha kudos to Meimei to think about making the iPhones a 傻瓜机. That definitely helps to control the kids' access to apps. I guess we are in the majority of parents worrying about the negative influences phone usage on their kids. Meimei found videos and write-up on how to do this online.

Back At Work
They started SIT1 last week. The rest of the team are in India but obviously I couldn't travel there. So now I have to follow India time and work during lunch. I'm home bound anyways so everyday I get cooked lunch which I will bring into the study to eat. Everyone's asking me to take it easy, have more rest etc. But at the same time I get pings to asking where I am on testing. A contradiction ... the reality is that everyone wishes I'm back to normal and being able to deliver.
There's no rest for the wicked.

The Mystery Lump: Day 10 Still The Same
It's been 10 days and the lump still stays the same. I suppose that is a good thing it didn't grow any bigger or escalate into something else. I've been taking pictures daily to show Meimei and she is still worried about it. We'll gonna let it be for another week to see if it goes away on its own.

A Fishy Celebration
Meimei purposefully 3D printed a red and white basket for Nabby to celebrate National Day together .....

3D Printing At Home
I vaguely recall Meimei telling me that she got a 3D printer from Courts while I was in hospital. I guess it's another new toy to relieve the stress she has been enduring with my illness. I'm glad at least there is something that keeps her mind off of my condition. It seems fun but am concerned if the plastic is really harmless ... oh well time will tell. I suppose with the technology being several years old it should be more stable and safer now?

The Mystery Lump: Day 1 Discovery
Papa and Mama came over unannounced to see me when they found out I'm came home yesterday. Everyone was out for church and table tennis so it's just me at home. While we were chatting at the dining table, Papa suddenly ask me why I have a lump on my left hand.
Huh? What? Wow I didn't notice it till he mentioned it. It definitely wasn't there yesterday ... I've been poked so much on my hands I would know if there was such a big lump. I don't have any discomfort or pain but they insist I remove the ring on my finger incase it's a case of blood clot.

The Mystery Headache: Day 23 Going Home
The last few days have been calm. The headache has subsided though there is still soreness on the back. The doctors seem to be rushing us to go back again though they are careful not to come across as being pushy. I don't have intentions to stay longer. It's been very tough for Meimei to come here everyday and it pains me to see her so tired.
Well not much to say other than I hope I never need to stay at the hospital again, Not that the stay was bad, it was actually a pleasant one, but I hope I don't fall sick like that again.

Roundup July'26
I've spend most of the month lying in a hospital bed. There really isn't nothing more to mark the month other than this silly illness.
