Pokemon Go: First Community Day - Mudkip

My first Pokemon Go community was exceptionally hectic but also lots and lots of fun. Our place had 3 Pokestops and a Gym so it's natural we played at home. Hazey came over to lend an extra helping hand on the children.

The event was 3 hours and in that time there was a crazy frenzy of Mudkip spawns. So in all that time, I was frantically catching Mudkips in hopes of getting a Shiny version. I eventually end with 2 of the shiny critter after 3 hours of non-stop catching.

It may seem like a chore to some but I really like the style of play in Pokemon. I suspect I might be playing this for some time and am starting to have a itch to spend on the game.

YY’s First Trip To Sheltered Playgrounds

We brought YY along on our playground excursion today. This is the first time YY's been to the sheltered playgrounds and he was very excited. And I think it's not just the playground but OO's company that YY values. He seems more animated when 姐姐 is around.

As with all kids they would fight over the slides, horse runs etc. But also YY takes to his 姐姐 a lot and will mimic her every move. So I just need to convince OO to drink water and YY will follow along.

And naturally what's a trip to the sheltered playground without a detour to the bird singing park. YY was extremely fascinated with all the chirping and singing. We spent sometime there simply staring at the birds before we made our way home.

Riding The Scooter Skate

I took out the extra scooter skate from the study recently and have been bringing YY on it to meet OO halfway while Meimei wheels her back from school. It gives me a chance to go catch Pokemons while letting YY a chance to be out of the house.

A problem with it though is that YY doesn't seem totally comfortable on it and cannot sit for an extended time. When we meet OO we would switch them around and YY always seem to be glad to be out of the scooter skate. It's not to say he doesn't like it, he does like it very much. But the eagerness to ride it slowly disappears once he becomes uncomfortable on it.

Poke-Lured By Meimei

It started with a simple, "Dear, can you lend me your phone? I want to install Pokemon Go so I can send a friend request to complete a quest." I was like "Sure, why not?"

Well it's been awhile since I played a game. There was the attempts to play some RPGs on the iMac and Macbook but those didn't run very long. With kids, we no longer get hours to sit at the desk to play a game. So mobile games which you can whip out anytime anywhere is definitely more appealing and time friendly.

I suspect I might be attracted to the game. A big part of that is the chance to play it with Meimei. It's not one of those puzzle bubble sort so I'm good. And it has RPG elements together with PvP which makes it more interesting for me.

So why not? Let's give it a go and Catch Them All!

OO Massive Nose Bleed

Meimei came over in the middle of the night. OO started bleeding from the nose while she slept and stained her pillows and mattress with blood. It kept going and there was a pool of tissue and blood when I came over to try and help.

OO was naturally in a foul mood as she was sleepy and wanted the bleed and pain to go away. We kept her sitting upright so the blood flows down the nose and not into the throat.

There was no warning and cause we could think of for this. She was perfectly fine before bed and everything seems normal. We'll have to monitor through the night and see if we need to get to the PD in the morning.

Buttoning Mama’s blouse

Ah the love ... Meimei shared this with me over WhatsApp. It's so heartwarming ... our girl girl has grown up so fast.

"OO trying to button my blouse, very hard."
"I ask her to be careful, her nails may break, I do la"
"She reply: No you don’t do. My nails already break so I can do, you don’t do"

*Love love

YY @17 months - More Interactive

YY's been getting more interactive this past month. He's starting to 'sense' things around him and attempts to interact in his own baby way.

YY's First Time On A Bicycle

I've tried a couple of times to get YY on the bicycle baby seat but he simply refuses. Somehow I managed to get him on but he complains by sounding out 'scared, scared'.

He seems to changed after riding around with me. I think he was initially reluctant as it was new and wasn't sure what it was about. But now that he had a feel of the breeze he didn't want to get down when we reach home. Hehehe I can see more adventures together on the bicycle, ala the days when OO and I rode around the neighbourhood.

Flat Out Pissed At A Spoiler On Avengers Endgame

I've been holding out on watching Avengers Endgame at the theatres. It's been a long time since I've been to a theatre and I wait for shows to come to streaming.

So I've been waiting patiently, refusing to come close to anything that may lead me to find out about a story plot or a scene or whatever not about the show.

There was the Spiderman: Far From Home trailer that posted an Endgame spoiler alert before the trailer ran. I skipped that so I don't spoil the experience when I finally get to watch Endgame.

I avoid all the media reviews, interviews with the cast and whatever you find on the internet etc. It's been very tiring but I persevered through for the last few months.

But then as I was driving home today, I hear a Spiderman: Far From Home advert on the radio. It went something like "What will Spiderman do now that he's mentor is gone." ..... What the bloody fuck!!!! OMG! How do I un-hear that?! Arrrgghhhh F U Mediacorp. You do not mess with people like that!! OMG! Dammit!

Fun At The Beach

After a month of crabbiness, we were cautious about going out. The last 2 weekends were spent at home with afternoon walks to have the children nap in the strollers.

Meimei had planned for a trip to the beach as a treat for both kids. We were careful not to be too ambitious though with good reason. The kids have just recovered and we cannot afford episode of illness befalling everyone.

Meimei spared no effort in prepping breakfast and all the picnic and sand play toys the night before. There were sandwiches and cereal and milk prepared for the kids. I bought McDonald's for the adults.

The children loves the sand and we were not afraid to have them dig in and dirty themselves. And play should be like that. I'm pleasantly surprised that Meimei was perfectly happy to let the kids roll in the sand and sea water. The bright smiles on their faces truly made it all worthwhile.

Holding Nebuliser Like A Pro

YY dislikes the nebuliser and somehow Nyama and Siti managed to teach him to hold the mouthpiece on his own.

They were using the ipad videos to sit him down and quietly let the nebuliser run its course. But today he was doing it all on his own. In fact he gave a hearty clap and big smile when he was done.

New Toy Shelfing

Meimei had ordered it from Taobao so it's kinda a replica of the original brand. Then again you can never really tell .... most stuff are made in China anyways so .... Anyways I had help from GirlGirl to put in the final touches of the floor protectors on each leg. Hopefully we can 'keep it stocked' so toys are not falling all over the house.

YY @16 months - Thinner

A lot has happened the past month. YY has become very apt at climbing up the sofa and going to the window, much to the worry and displeasure of Meimei. Then there is the hospital stay and he's only back yesterday. He looks visibly thinner ... but I think Nyama and Siti has a plan to beef him up again.

Getting through sheer grit

Getting up to window to shout and make a ding

First time touching cassia seeds
Always enjoying donning a hat
Smiling even with in pain

Going Home Semi-Well

Like OO a month ago, YY has completed his course of antibiotics and nebuliser. He's faring better but definitely still carrying some of the bug. Again there is nothing much else other than to go home and rest. I think the home ground effect might help him with recovery.

He has to continue a course of nebuliser at home plus a variety of medication to keep the vomiting, diarrhoea, flu at bay. I think everyone's glad to have YY home. He's starting to be very irritable at the hospital.

Physiotherapy For The Lungs

I didn't get to see YY's physiotherapy session as I left for home before lunch. I was wasted from the severe vomiting and diarrhoea and slept through the night. I wasn't well enough to drive so Meimei booked a Grab to ferry me home.

Although I did not witness it, I can imagine the anguish YY was going through. I've seen other children receiving the physiotherapy in the other rooms and almost all of them were crying too. I don't think it hurts but rather the children were shocked by the hard hitting on the back. It's meant to loosen the phlegm in the lungs but what do the children know.
