Our Muddleheaded Girl

I brought 萱萱 to swimming by myself yesterday since we are maintaining segregation with Nyaong and Nyama too. I couldn't go into the girl's toilet so I stood outside and wait. After a relatively long wait I peep in to check on her and she says she is almost done, just needed to pack her stuff. Ok that's fine.

Now this morning Siti complained to me that she cannot find 萱萱's swimming costume in her bag. Huh? What does that mean? She then mention that she asked 萱萱 about it last night and asked her to tell me about it. Wait ... 萱萱 didn't come to me about it? And why would you as an adult put the responsibility on a 7 year old to tell me about something this important?!! Kids being kids, at this age they don't have a sense of ownership nor sense to make sure all their stuff are kept properly. Also it's my fault too that I didn't check her bag. Haiz.

I made my anger and disappointment very clear to Siti and reminded her several times that I expect she tells me directly if something was missing. I made it clear "next time someone comes with me to swimming class!!" 

So anyways this morning I drove down to Tampines Hub again in hopes that I might chance on it in the toilet and if not, check with the swimming pool office if someone had picked it up. Well, lo and behold, her swimming costume is still where she left it yesterday. Phew ... 

Covid Has Finally Struck

Oh crap. Covid has finally struck our family ... and on the one we fear the most because 阳阳 cannot be vaccinated yet. He started having fever last night and when we test him this morning the dreaded T line appeared.

Everyone went to get into emergency mode when Meimei shared the ART test results. We started packing things for him and Meimei to isolate in the master room. I called our family doctor and was advised to make a visit since 阳阳 is not vaccinated.

You can see the tiredness in his eyes. There was a young girl before us that seems to have Covid too. After awhile, one of 阳阳's classmate also came to the same clinic with Covid. It seems there is a rampant transmission at his school and many kids were getting it.

Our goal now is to make sure 萱萱 does not get it as well. She has always been very susceptible to respiratory illnesses. Unfortunately Meimei will have to brave the isolation with 阳阳 and hope she doesn't fall sick herself. Whatever the case, it's going to be a tough week ahead.

Dinner For One

It was meant to be a dinner for 6. Then it came to be a dinner for me only because everyone was cautious that we were at my brother's today and they had covid recently. What was our usual Saturday night feast and drinks became a lonely meal for one. Meimei accompanied me for dinner but had her diet milk instead of eating the dishes. 

I'm pretty irritated and fuming at our maid for mentioning this and 'raising' the issue. One 'innocent' comment and it comes to this. Haiz. I deliberately took time to eat ... there is so much food anyways so I was always going to take longer. She usually likes to get all the dishes done before 9pm but today she seems to sense my displeasure and let me be. It was 9.30pm before I decided to let her clear the table.

Piecing Toilet Paper Cones

萱萱 came home from student care to spend the afternoon at 406. She loves spending time there as Nyaong and Nyama would constantly fuss over her. She loves the attention, pampering and endless supply of fruits and goodies to snack.

Nyong, Nyama found toilet paper cones for her to play and she did a great job making patterns and shapes out of them.

Children Art: Saying Thank You For Yesterday's Outing

萱萱 has always been a darling in her own way. She does not have the gift of the gab like 阳阳 but she is just as tender and loving and shows it in her own way. I receive a thank you card today and it shows how much love she has for family.

Fun With Sand At East Coast Park

We were at East Coast Park yesterday but since its the March holidays we decided to give both kids a treat with another trip there. This time we were there in the morning for some sand play fun. 

We also brought along a beach ball we bought from Diaso. It turns out that it wasn't round in shape and rather light so it was flying wayward when you hit it. But the kids enjoyed it nonetheless. They love the chance to run around unmasked after so many months cooped up at home. There will be more outings to come I'm sure!

We ended the trip with lunch at Dian Xiao Er at Bedok Mall. All in all a wonderful and fulfilling outing for the kids.

An Impromptu Scooter Outing At East Coast Park

There was a misunderstanding. Meimei thought we were going down to the basketball court to play scooter. I thought we had discussed to try and bring the kids to East Coast Park to ride the scooters. So Meimei was not prepared at all and wore the wrong shirt. 

It was also a very very hot and dry late afternoon. The sun seared across the park and we could hardly keep our eyes open. We attempted to go eastwards away from the gaze but there was a police petrol on the beach. We turned the kids around and went towards the scorching rays.

We managed to take a photo with our eyes straining to open. I love how we just picked up and came to the park. No need for elaborate planning or preparation. I'm certain the kids enjoyed it thoroughly too.

Short Trip To Jewel Changi

We are at Jewel Changi today because of a Pokemon promo. It's basically a gimmick to make you spend more. You had to spend at least $50 at a participating outlet to qualify for a chance to buy a mini Pokemon pushie. Qualify ... like buying a COE. But the more interesting part of the trip was lunch at Sushi Teh. I think the kids enjoy lunch outside.

Kiddos At 主日学 6 March 2022

We try to bring the kids to church every week now like we did before when 萱萱 was younger. 萱萱 loves Sunday church and we really don't want her to miss any of it. They are older now so parents are not allowed to accompany them. Thankfully the teachers will take pics to share with parents.

It's good to have them join the class so they can get more opportunity to pick up social skills.

YY's First Saloon Haircut

阳阳's never had a proper haircut other than Siti snipping away at it right before his bath. So very often his hair would be uneven or unbalanced between the sides. Now that he is older and good with instructions Meimei decide to bring him to the saloon to get a proper haircut.

Turns out it looks just like someone put a bowl on his head and cut around the edge of the bowl .... oh well this is also probably the last time he is coming to the saloon. Not because he wasn't cooperative or naughty but rather it's more that he is a boy and a simple haircut at the neighbourhood barber would do.

Getting People To Buy Toys

Ok firstly I have to admit this has to be our fault. Firstly we have been bringing back the Toys'r'Us catalogues since last Christmas. Both kids love it, especially 阳阳, who can spend hours flipping through the pages. Then off and on he would point to a toy and tell us that he wants it. We will usually brush him off and say no, or find an excuse like 'It's too expensive' or 'We just bought you a toy' etc.

However as doting parents, we would take note and get that toy for special occasions like his birthday. So somehow 阳阳 now interprets it that as long as he keeps asking for a toy, he will eventually get it.

And now he goes around showing the toys in the catalogue with everyone at home and pointing to those that he likes and go 'I like this, I want, can you buy for me?' *facepalm .... haiz we need to correct this soon. Again, it's mostly our fault. A 4 year old doesn't know better right? Hmm or does he ....

萱萱's Diary Entry: Vaccination Day

Meimei calls 萱萱 a 'Budding Blogger' for noting down her vaccination day in the Pikachu notebook. The  animal stickers are the ones they were giving out to children who complete the jab.
